Hi, MissyZepeda! Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Community and posting your concerns. We are sorry to learn you encounter issues using a Virtual Background in the Zoom app on your Surface Laptop 3. Thanks for taking the time to let us know about this and allowing us to help you out. We understand it is important that you'd be able to use this feature. From what I can find online, this is what I found on the Bing search for your concern and it directs us to the Zoom Support article on the requirements, video tutorial, troubleshooting, and more.

If ever you still encounter issues, kindly reach out to Zoom Technical Support for further assistance. We hope this helps you out. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Some Surface devices do not have sufficient spec to implement zoom back grounds. For example SP3 is 4th gen generation intel core, so would be OK if you have the i7, but not the i5 or m3.

I have the Surface Pro 5 iU 7th Generation. The virtual background does not work like my wife's Surface Pro 7 and the "green screen" does not work. The picture shows up behind me but my glasses end up blue and my brown beard ends up multi-colored. Very psychedelic.

It's very frustrating to use Zoom and not be able to use the virtual background feature, because the SurfacePro4 is missing something, or is outdated somehow. I can't un-check the green screen option in Zoom, says my system doesn't meet minimum requirements. Can I download something to upgrade the SurfacePro so things like Zoom's virtual background actually function? I have tried to get help from Zoom today - but no help is provided, we get only references to technical instructions but nothing special related to the Surface laptop.

I have tried to get help from Zoom, but they do not provide help, only refer to technical instructions, but nothing related to the particular problem with the Surface pro. Many of my colleagues using other devices do not have the problem with the virtual background. Can you provide a specific advice, or shall we start a zoommeeting to see how to solve it? Perhaps a setting needs to change?

Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve the site. The Surface Laptop 3 has 10th gen processor, so it should easily be OK. Did you get it working?

The 2nd line under "System" shows the processor. Write down the codes shows after "Core TM " and then Google them to find the Intel web page that shows the details. Click on that Intel page, and you will find out what gen is your processor, and further down the page the on-chip video if any is listed. In reply to JohnBriginshaw's post on April 24, As a history teacher I would like to teach "on-location" and this is frustrating.

I have the same issue. I use the Surface Pro 5 - iU 7th Generation. When I use Zoom's virtual background, my face blends into the background.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Dear Microsoft Agent dear Janette , I have tried to get help from Zoom today - but no help is provided, we get only references to technical instructions but nothing special related to the Surface laptop. It seems as if the problem is with the Surface, perhaps a setting should be changed? Kind regards, Marjan. Dear Janette, I have tried to get help from Zoom, but they do not provide help, only refer to technical instructions, but nothing related to the particular problem with the Surface pro.

But I have with the Surface laptop. Will buying a separate usb web camera accessory solve the problem or is the problem caused by the video software in SP that will not be bypassed by buying a separate web cam?

Or is the intel processor the limiting factor? This site in other languages x.
